Getting Involved
VOLUNTEERS
Volunteers
donate their time for many reasons: to give back
to their community, for enjoyment, to get valuable experience, to make
new friends….the list goes on! Regardless of the reasons, each volunteer
brings a high level of commitment to his or her role and the facility
benefits directly from their contributions. Kinsmen Place Lodge
makes every effort to ensure that a volunteer’s experience is rewarding
and fulfilling.
Volunteers support
Kinsmen place Lodge staff to make this facility a homelike and friendly
place to be for residents, visitors and employees. Volunteers
“lend a hand” in many ways including: bus outings, one to one visits,
crafts and baking, therapeutic programs, as well as fundraising.
How to become a volunteer:
-
Be prepared
to make a minimum six month commitment to the volunteer program
-
Complete
a registration form, supplying personal and professional references.
-
Attend
an interview, based on the availability of a suitable placement.
-
Participate
in a general facility orientation, as well as a department orientation
and training.
Orientation
sessions are held each month for those interested in finding out about
volunteer opportunities at KPL. Once
a year we have a dinner in appreciation of our volunteers.
Resident Council
Executive
Council members take suggestions to managers, organize fundraising projects,
welcome newcomers, promote community partnerships through special events
and programming, actively participate in the three committees – Social, Welcome/Care and Acknowledgment, and Food. All
residents are welcome to attend council meetings and join committees.
