·        Housekeeping Aides with BSW certificate or WHMIS certificate

·        Laundry Aides with 2 years recent related experience or equivalent

All shifts have the potential to become regularly scheduled permanent shifts for the right candidates.

Housekeeping Aide

JOB SUMMARY:

·        Cleans, disinfects, vacuums, dry mops, wet mops, washes and waxes resident rooms and furniture, public areas and other areas as assigned.

·        Cleans and disinfects bathrooms, and removes trash.

·        Completes terminal cleaning of resident rooms on discharge.

·        Maintains related housekeeping equipment by cleaning, lubricating and replacing items such as filter bags and belts.

·        Assists residents in keeping their rooms clean and tidy.

·        Checks and restocks housekeeping supplies, and ensures utility rooms are kept in good order.

·        Performs other related duties as assigned.

·        Must have grade 12.

·        Must have building service worker certificate or WHMIS certificate.

Maintenance Worker

JOB SUMMARY:

·        Carries out all necessary inspections, operational adjustments (changes filters, belts on air handling units, visually inspect proper operation of machinery) and normal preventative maintenance to all machinery and equipment, throughout the facility as per maintenance manuals provided.

·        Develops and carries out specified preventative maintenance programs for equipment and systems in all plant buildings and grounds (air handling unit, heating system, cooling system and kitchen/Laundry equipment.)

·        Carries out repairs and fabrication of equipment, furnishings, plumbing and electrical fixtures and appliances.

·        Develops and maintains a painting program for the facility.  In this connection, paints and recovers surfaces.

·        Carries out minor carpentry repairs to furniture (repair broken furniture legs and drawers) and buildings (wall/door repairs) as assigned.

·        Program and maintain building security systems.

·        Develops and maintains inventory control and record keeping systems.

·        Records all inspection reports for preventative maintenance program.

·        In the absence of the Director of Environmental Services, checks, orders, and receives supplies as required.

·        Moves heavy equipment, furniture, and supplies as required with the use of appropriate equipment such as dollies and hand trucks.

·        Cleans and stores maintenance equipment and supplies and cleans work areas.  Reports and attends to unsafe or faulty equipment.

·        Maintains sidewalks and refuse areas including snow removal.

·        Performs other related duties as assigned

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

Grade 12 plus four years recent related experience.

Laundry Aide

JOB SUMMARY:

·        Collects resident and facility laundry from designated areas.

·        Labels resident and facility laundry with heat seal machine as directed.

·        Washes and dries laundry using the correct machine cycles, laundry products (detergents, bleaches, etc.) and procedures.

·        Folds and stacks clean laundry, irons clothes when necessary and returns clothes to the proper residents.

·        Makes minor repairs to linen and residents' clothing as required.

·        Informs supervisor when supplies are running low, and of any equipment malfunctions.

·        Maintains related laundry equipment by cleaning.

·        Stores laundry equipment and supplies and reports unsafe or faulty equipment to the designated supervisor.

·        Performs other related duties as assigned.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

Grade 12, two years recent related experience in a commercial or industrial laundry.
