Kinsmen Place Lodge is a six-story building located in the neighbourhood of Whalley. It is within wheelchair / walking distance of a local park, shopping centre, restaurants, health services providers and a recreation centre with a swimming pool.
Kinsmen Place Lodge is close to the Surrey Central bus stop and the Skytrain station. Free parking is also offered for the convenience of visitors and is located just west of the facility on Old Yale Road.
A large dining area, TV room, smoking lounge, multipurpose activity area, Receptionist, Administrative offices, and solarium with a walkout garden / patio, are all located on the main floor. The upper five floors are home to 144 residents. There are 22 single rooms and 61 double rooms. Each room has one attached bathroom.
Each room and bathroom is equipped with a nurse call system
and a smoke detector connected to the fire alarm system. Residents

and hydro-lift jacuzzi style bath tubs, all supervised by trained personnel.
Mission:Our mission is to provide quality, holistic care to individuals, in an intermediate care setting.
We are committed to the following VALUES AND BELIEFS in the operation of our facility:
VISION:Kinsmen Place Lodge will provide the best possible contemporary multilevel care in an appropriate setting. An expanding range of programs and services will be offered in coordination with other community resources.
VALUES:
RESIDENTS' RIGHTS:
Every resident has the right:
Quality Care:
Care for the resident:
Least Restraint Policy:
We support the right of residents to make choices and to be free from restraints. Our mission statements support individualized care and resident autonomy.
Kinsmen Place Lodge is not a ‘locked’ facility; the main door of our building is equipped with a security code for resident safety (similar to many apartment buildings) but is not meant to prevent residents from leaving the building. Residents who are safe and able are encouraged to maintain their community connections, visit friends, go shopping, attend activities or simply go for a walk around the block. However, other residents may be less able to enjoy these types of outdoor activities unescorted. While every effort is made to discourage or distract residents who may be at risk of wandering from the building, it is impossible to completely prevent this from happening. Friends and family are asked to speak with care and reception staff about access and restraint policies.
Board of Directors
The Board of Directors is charged with providing complex care according to the provisions of the Community Care and Assisted Living Act. Our Board is comprised of nine elected volunteers representing various community agencies and interests and a member appointed by the Newton Kinsmen Club. The Board meets regularly throughout the year in order to review finances and current concerns. The Board is responsible for Board Policy development and strategic planning so that Kinsmen Place Lodge, through their staff, are able to maintain a quality service to meet our communities needs.
The Board of Whalley & District Senior Citizens Housing Society is committed to seniors advocacy, to ensure a strong and dedicated health care team working cooperatively with other community services and agencies and to the provision of quality health care services offered in a safe, comfortable and homelike environment. The Board welcomes new members to the Society and invite their participation at the Annual General Meeting held in June each year.
